|In 1967 to celebrate Canada's 100th birthday
the Alpine Club of Canada organized what they
called YACE (Yukon Alpine Centennial
Expedition). The expedition was a huge
undertaking and had three parts: The first was
an ascent of Good Neighbour Peak on the Alaska
Yukon Border by 4 Canadian climbers and 4
American climbers; the second part was first
ascents by 4 person teams chosen from across
Canada,of 13 peaks named after all the
provinces and territories and one more peak
called Centennial Peak and the third part of
the expedition was a General Mountaineering
Camp along the edge of the Steele Glacier (with
200 people attending). The whole expedition was
a great success, with no injuries and many new
routes and first ascents completed.
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of YACE the
Alpine Club of Canada commissioned Chic Scott
and Glen Crawford to make a film of the

venue (2nd floor members' lounge) from 6.30pm
and can chill on the patio with a drink or even
get something to eat from the yummy menu!
